June Job Market Updates: Shaker’s Take

Blog

Looking back at the first half of the year, the job market has definitely had its ups and downs. However, job growth bounced back this month with the U.S. economy adding 224,000 new jobs, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Plus, as of May 31, the total number of job openings in the U.S. was 7.3 million — an increase of 197,000 jobs since May 2018.

Although more Americans are rejoining the workforce, the number of available candidates is still not enough to fill all of the open positions. This leaves the employment marketplace extremely competitive.

Check out the infographic to see big changes that occurred in June, along with some other job market stats to consider.
