July Job Market Updates: Shaker’s Take

Shaker’s review of job growth stats indicate slow, sometimes sporadic, but steady growth at this time. According to ADP, private-sector jobs went up by 156,000 in July. Statistics from the Department of Labor show that total nonfarm payroll employment went up by 164,000 jobs. This is in line with the average employment growth of the last six months.

In July, the unemployment rate remained at 3.7%. Average hourly earnings for all employees on private nonfarm payrolls increased by 8 cents, bringing the total to $27.98. Average hourly earnings have grown by 3.2% in the past 12 months.
