Client Consultant


Remote | HQ in Oak Park, IL

As a Client Consultant, you’ll be on the very frontlines of our organization with responsibility for client engagement, development, and overall satisfaction. You’ll be a member of an enterprise/large account team interacting with Recruiters, Managers, and Director level client contacts on a daily basis. This is a high-volume, fast-paced role that will require you to identify areas of opportunity, scope needs, and provide strategic advice and media buys.


  • Present, discuss, and deliver full-spectrum strategy solutions for and close sales of Shaker offerings in such categories as employer branding/EVP, campaign development, creative support, programmatic, SEM/PPC/sponsored content, social media, creative services, interactive services, and tech solutions.
  • Proactively interact with clients via phone and electronic media (and potentially in person within a year or two).
  • Build and maintain strong relationships at all levels within the client organization, as well as internal departments and partners.
  • Maintain a deep understanding of all client dynamics, including business objectives, TA needs and projections, challenges, and budgets.
  • Take responsibility for driving consistent growth and client billings at all levels.
  • Act as the client’s internal advocate, strategic partner and trusted advisor at Shaker, interacting with all departments to coordinate all deliverables seamlessly and discovering new ways to collaborate.
  • Juggle multiple deadlines, clients, and project priorities concurrently and flawlessly.
  • Prepare proposals and media recommendations, ensuring that all long- and short-term objectives are considered/incorporated.
  • Consult on and close customer contracts for media, consultative, and creative services.
  • Independently manage project work, including mid-sized media plans, local campaigns and event promotions; leverage Shaker capabilities in alignment with client needs and generate client growth opportunities.
  • Collaborate with project managers and departments to ensure objectives/deadlines are met.


  • BA and 5+ years of progressively responsible client-management experience, including the realm of client relationships
  • Background in advertising, marketing, HR/talent acquisition
  • Agency experience preferred; recruitment-related a strong plus
  • Excellent presentation/communication/client-interaction skills, especially via phone/online
  • Intuitive questioning and learning skills: Ability to relate to client issues and offer the best solutions
  • Visible presence on all relevant social media channels with ability to represent the agency by promoting, sharing, liking and contributing to industry- and agency-related discussions/topics
  • Strong negotiation and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent attention to detail, strong organizational skills and exceptional follow-through
  • Knowledge of current talent-industry marketing and advertising trends/best practices
  • Demonstrated proficiency in FileMaker, MS Office Suite (Word, PPT, Teams), Excel, Tableau and TalentNeuron
  • Ability to perform research and campaign planning
